    "CHOLM" - Group "Jagd-Kommando 8"

    Hi guys!

    Genuine Cholm-fighter - group for a man of "Jagd-Kommando 8", consisting of:

    - Wehrpaß
    - EK II
    - Wound badge in silver
    - Cholmshield
    - Führungszeugnis

Doc for the "Ostmedal" is missing.

For those of You, who know Stijn David's book on the "Cholm"-docs, there are two interesting facts:
    - There is no number on the backside of the doc
    - According to page 12 of the Wehrpaß this man left "Jagd-Kommando 8" because of his serious frostbite on both feet (page 34) on 18.1.1942. Officially time for Cholm-fights is 21.1.1942 - 5.5.1942...

    Kind regards,

    Peter

Really interesting group, Peter. I wonder if the severity of his wounds/frostbite was the reason he was awarded the Cholmschild. The bestowal of the silver wound badge, and subsequent discharge from armed service, indicates it was likely he lost both feet to frostbite.

Jagdkommando 8 did not arrive in Cholm until the latter half of 19 January. Maybe he was still with them, treated at Cholm and evacuated soon after. Definitely a grouping that will benefit from further research. By the way, his company commander, Hauptmann Josef Pratneker, was killed on 21 January 1942, in the opening days of the siege.

It's hard to find just the Cholm award document, so having a grouping is very special!

A superb group, and most certainly a "wound" EK.
