with the exception of wound badge docs from hospitals, always be very wary of incorrect unit designations\abbreviations. On an award of this stature, it's unacceptable. That's a quick and easy thing to check, secondly, as has been mentioned, look up the name to see if the soldier is actually listed as having won that award. The various lists are not 100% accurate and caution should be used for very late awards, but something like this from early 1944 would certainly be listed. These days with the internet, it's a one minute job to check. That plays into the hands of fakers as well of course but at least it helps for the pre-internet fakes out there.
