Wow! If a collector has a Soldbuch or award citation to this unit and for whatever reason there is no photo in the Soldbuch or there are no accompanying photos of the soldier it might just be possible to put a name with a face so to speak as all of these portraits are named. A really great find. I have downloaded and archived all of these for any potential future research projects dealing with this unit!

        Thanks for posting!

Thanks everyone for appreciating this group for what it is.

Panzer Rob, very true about placing a photo to a paper item that relates to an individual.

I picked this up close to 15 years ago here in Australia.
I was at a show and under a stack of other paperwork and albums on a table, you could not see it from just walking past the table.

I paid a fairly high price for it at the time, as I remember the owner did not move from what he wanted.

I knew though at the time this was a pearler of a find and could not let go in my mind of not having it. I'd never seen anything like it before and before the internet days ti be honest.

Does anyone out there have a Waffen SS, Panzer or KM & Lufwaffe group like this?

How do you price up something like this to put a value on, by its number of photos perhaps and then a percentage for it all being together.

It's great to see that you all like it.

if anyone finds any paperwork relating to any of the men above, please let me know and I may be able to help out with a better photo of the individual.

            Cheers

              Hello NCO,

do a search on the "30 Januar Division" There have been some amazing finds to do with this Waffen SS unit. They buried all their records and complete units of Wehrpass, Stammkarte and dog tags have been found.

Here is one such find http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...anuar+Division

but if you search you will find several more.

"Amazing finds" today like your one

Hello again NCO, here is information and images of the Wehrpass & Stammekarte found. I think some of the dog tags found in post number 21 matched up with the Wehrpass etc. A company spare photo record like your one may have also been amongst these but had rotted away,

                Chris

"I read on the web (including other WAF postings) that an identical box of the 6. Kompanie/Freiw. Gren. Rgt. 86, SS Division "30 Januar" was found in 1990 in the South of Berlin.(Halbe pocket).
This box contained all the documents of the company such as Stammkarte, Werhpass, the Soldbuch of KIS’s and even copies of the letters in the family, documents of burial, partial ( 1/2) identity discs, etc...

And in 2001, another identical box containing 117 Wehrpass as well as miscellaneous other documents was found (wehrmacht unit), I believe in Prussia."

                  Hi 90th Light,

Fantastic to see something like this is still being found, thanks for the tip, never seen this before.
I also have another one of "those boxes" pictured, identical but with SS stenciled painted markings to inside of lid and with the US vets markings to outside top lid veterans bring back.
This was sold to me as a foot locker many years ago , I guess they were used for all sorts of things to transport in, it didn't really matter.

I will try and take some photos soon.

                  cheers

Thanks Max & again to everyone for the contribution and the 685 views.

Does anyone have a clue as to how something like this can have a value.
Would it be something like ,,number of photos,, all from same unit,, each soldier named and rank provided not to mention the historical 90th Panzer Grenadier Division factor?

                      Any thoughts much appreciated?

                      Cheers

                          Hi Eagle Stream,
I am not sure what you need and mean.
                          This is all I have.

Thanks NCO for posting this all up for us to see. Really remarkable piece. The worn looks of the men really tell the story.

The various shades and types of tropical tunics is well represented. Early and later 1st patterns along with both 2nd & 3rd patterns and even a few curve balls thrown in. Schutze Schuckart in # 6 looks to be wearing a wrap of some sorts ? Can we see close-up of him ?

Could spend hours just on this thread alone

                            Cheers

                              Hi Tim,
Thanks heaps to you and everyone who has enjoyed spending some time with the 13th Company Infantry Geschuetz ( Artillery ) of the 361st Regiment, of the 90th Panzer Grenadier Division,,, getting to really know who was who and what they looked like. You are definitely correct about the look on these guy's , exhausted and not interested.
You can spend hours looking , its becomes sort of personal, if you know what I mean because now you know who they were.
Here is a close up of Schutze Schuckart as requested.
Nice pic of him wearing the feldgrau wrap.

                              Happy to help out,

                              cheers
