I am not sure, i encountered it within the search results when searching for my own field of interest. Although i like many photographs i see, i do not buy them, i stay focused on one particular theme.

Such a hit would have created a large amount of spall inside the tank, so the "lucky" guy probably had his face and eyes sprayed with metal fragments. It's a really interesting pic, thanks for posting.

Can anyone guess the size of the round?

I guess but maybe he was lucky to duck right before the moment of impact.

A 3,7cm round so it seems?

It is a German 15cm sFH16 on the Lorraine Schlepper, they were used in Africa in the artillery role while in Normandy they were used as both SP artillery and in the Infantry Gun companies of the Panzergrenadiers in 21 Panzer Division.

Sorry, we both are wrong. It's a sFH 13.

Sorry, typo on my part , the "16" was of course the year for the 10,5cm leFH used on the FCM and some of the Hotchkiss convertions. the proper name for "our" gun is 15cm s FH 13/1.
