    Kriegsmarine Documents

    Hi,

I would please like to have your opinions on these award documents I acquired this past weekend.

For some reason I have not a good feeling with those documents.
Maybe Im wrong. But for example, the document of the U-boot frontspange is from 1945. In that period the führer der unterseeboote (nordmeer) was a Fregatten kapitäin named Reinhold SUHREN. The name on your document does not look like SUHREN.

Im curious what other members thinking?

      Hi oberst40,

Yes, I know but according to:

      http://www.axishistory.com/index.php?id=8849

Fregatten Kapitäin Reinhold Suhren was in command until September 1944 I can not find the name of his replacement.

The only one I have immediate concerns with is the first for u-jagd, etc. Can't say I've ever seen that signature before, and it looks iffy - as does the stamp.

The rest make a good first impression; a little more research might be needed.

          Hi Juno,

          Here some other info:

Formed in Narvik on September 1944 from the redesignated Führer der Unterseeboote Norwegen. It's tasks were exactly the same, operational control of all U-Boats in European Northern Waters (Greenland, Norway, Barents Seas etc).

          Führer
Fregattenkapitän Reinhold Suhren (00 Sep 1944-08 May 1945)

          Cheers,
          Oberst40

I don't like the minesweeper or the u-boot frontspange, both have the wrong sig, the u-boot has the wrong stamp, rank and title as well.

I agree! The Minesweeper Badge document is bogus for sure. It has the signature of some imaginary Konteradmiral u. B.S.O. and the eagle ink stamp is not correct. This upward slanting, blatantly fake signature trait is seen frequently on bogus documents. It could be an original document blank, ruined with the addition of fraudulent data or just a total fake.

The High Seas Fleet, Destroyer, and Blockade Breaker documents all look good, based on the photos.

I also agree that the U-boat Combat Clasp document is bad. It does look convincing but, as Simon says, the signature, rank, title, and eagle ink stamp are all wrong for this document: The signature should be that of "Teddy" Suhren; his rank should be Fregattenkapitän; his title should read, "Führer der Unterseeboote Nordmeer"; and the ink stamp should also be for the F.d.U. (Normeer).

The bottom of the U-boat Combat Clasp document should look more like this example, shown on page #59 of Forman's Guide to Third Reich Documents and their Values, Volume 2:

              Best regards,
              Tom

                Hi tyanacek,

Thank you these information, it is highly appreciated. I am now convince that the Mine Sweeper and U-boat clasp documents are copies and both will be destroyed.
