The Case of the Missing RK Mappe - Wilhelm Henz

    Hello,

Detlev Niemann split this Mappe from the RK Formal Urkunde several years ago. I own the Urkunde and I'm trying to track down the Mappe. I was hoping someone in the document community knows where it ended up.

This Mappe is distintive in that is has three holes from being nailed to the wall. My Urkunde has the three corresponding holes. I would like to purchase this Mappe and thus reunite the set.

    Please PM. Thanks,
    John

            Hi Nick,

            Thanks again!

I would very much like to renunite the set...sadly, I don't think a deal will happen though, as the dealer is not willing to come down on the price. Currently it is on offer at USD 4560, which is double what similar conditioned examples are available at.

Here is one in similar shape that recently sold at auction (USD 2250):

              Update!!!

I am happy to report that I was able to reach a deal with the dealer and the Henz Mappe is now reunited with the Urkunde.

A big thank you to Nick-J for letting me know where to find it and a big thank you to my friend Bill also. Due to the timing, the dealer had already packed up and left for the S.O.S. and was preparing to display the Mappe. My friend, Bill, walked over and talked to the dealer before the show and fortunately, the dealer agreed to hold for me and a deal was concluded.

WAF is a wonderful place when members are working together to help each other. Thanks again to Nick J. for helping me in my quest.

              Regards,
              John

                            Hi Guys,

Thank you for all the nice comments. When I bought the Urkunde, I was fully prepared for the fact they I may never find the Mappe and if I did it may take quite some time. The fact that it only took a few months truly amazes me. Feeling pretty lucky right now...perhaps I should play the lottery tomorrow.

                            A few pics...Enjoy,
                            John

                              John,
I've been following this drama since you posted it, and I'm very happy for you that it turned out with a happy ending. What puzzels me is why Niemann seperated the mapp from the document. Yes, the obvious answer is to make more money, such as selling photos seperate from the albums they came from. But, I like to think some things are beyond that. Here, it's like making the choice to sell a Knights Cross seperate from the its original case. I've never heard of that happening, even among money hungary dealers. So why did Niemann do it??

Congratulations John, and to those who helped unite the mapp and document!!

                              Steve
