    Wolfgang Willrich Question.

Hi, I have attached an image of a Wolfgang Willrich drawing of Werner Molders. However, this is not a format of Willrich cards which I am familiar with, a large plain border (and also a plain reverse) as opposed to the standard "postcard type" layout. The only other Willrich example similar to this I have seen shows Fallschirmjager RKT Brauer. The paper it is printed on is quite thin although it is a fine piece! Any opinions as to this type of Willrich card will be well recieved.

    Regards Richard.

    Richard,

The Werner Molders picture you have is a VDA (Volksbund fur das Deutschtum im Ausland) fund-raiser that was produced in both postcard and poster format.

The poster size is usually 8" x 11.5" and based on a series of prints honoring soldiers, airmen, sailors etc. who earned medals for bravery. In Molders case the print series were of Knights Cross winners (Ritterkreuztrager).

The usual VDA format for the Molders poster can be seen below. However, I have seen other Willrich posters with the same lettering/font as the one you've shown.

      Molders.

Hi Kevin, thank you for going to the effort of replying to my thread. Over the years I have only seen relatively few of the Willrich "posters" as opposed to the "postcards", so I was very pleased to pick this example of Molders up, as I have been trying to locate a signed Willrich of him for some time. Thanks again for your help. (Incidently, the size of this example is 149mm x 208mm)

      Regards Richard.

I've seen the Brauer and a Kerfin in this same format.
