Hi xalt, and welcome among us! Your photo is an early one, much earlier than the date that Reichsminister Dr. Frick included with his signature. I would say that the photo on this post card dates from mid-1934, given that he is wearing the PL cap and tunic of the NSDAP as it existed when Hitler came to power; the eagle on the cap is of the M-1934 design, the first revision of that style following the original M-1927 design; the Blood Order was awarded from late in 1933; and the Golden Party Badge Frick wears on his left lapel was awarded from March of 1934.

Once issued, post cards during the TR never ceased to be sold...unless they contained a photo or a text reference to someone who had fallen from favor and had been expunged from the NSDAP membership rolls. In those cases such people were as if they never existed!

    Best regards,

    Br. James

Many thanks for all information James.
In your opinion this photo and the signature are original or not?

I have this postcard without autograph.
The printed Hoffmann address on the back is Theresienstr. 74 in Munich. We know that he left this location sometime between May and June 1938, but since your autograph is dated August 1938 we know the photo had to be taken before then anyway.
Hoffmann moved his office from Amalienstr. to Theresienstr. in late 1933 or early 1934 (I've probably got even more definitive evidence than that buried somewhere in my collection )

So, we can narrow down the picture as being taken probably between the beginning of '34 and a few months before the August 1938 autograph date, based on the Hoffmann address alone (although occasionally he reprinted postcards earlier seen with the Amalienstr. address).

Since Br. James has identified a badge that wasn't issued prior to March '34.... so we're looking at this probably being a 1934 or 1935 photo, or early '36.

The card number is #617, which is from a numer range of Gauleiter postcards consistent with this time period.

          Hi xalt,

Yes, in my opinion, the signature and date on this photo card appear to be original...though I quickly add that I am not a trained autograph authenticator or handwriting analyst. There are a number of others here who have much more experience in this field than I do, and hopefully we shall hear from some of them.

I trust this is helpful information for you.
