The photo of 812 appears, in lesser quality, in Wolfgang Schneider's book Das Reich Tigers. It dates from after the recapture of Kharkov in the spring of 1943. The book states that 812 was the mount of Ustuf. Schienhofen, who is in the middle in peaked cap. One of the officers is supposed to be later RKT Alois Kalls. I'm guessing it could be the left-most SS officer, standing by the Heer officer. At right is Paul Egger, who was allegedly awarded the RK on April 29, 1945. This is one of those awards recognized by the OdR, but now generally discredited, because there was no authority to officially approve the recommendation.

According to Schneider's book, Tiger 132 of sSS-PA 102 was abandoned at Rouen. Schneider indicates that no Tigers of the battalion made it to Germany. I know that Schneider has some errors. Does the alternate book, by Heimdal, indicate otherwise? I don't own the book, but I understand it is supposed to be more accurate than Das Reich Tigers.

A few More Big Cat Pics

      Greetings,
I'll start with this Tiger. Note the Hit in the sight. Possibly the Guy laying on the back deck as a result. Sincerely, DJB

                                Very nice contributions gents

Jim that jagdpanther picture is awesome. I remember a very nice jagdpanther picture which was auctioned at Ebay a few years back. The crew was cleaning the barrel and the jagdpanther was camoed.

                                Regards
