Luftwaffen Portraits with trade badge...

Hi I wanted to open this topic because I was once the trade badges have always been interested in helping out and would be pleased if it also shows a couple of portraits from your collection.

Nice ones!

Here is a rare trade/specialists badge that was only used for a short time Im sure. This is a very early Luftwaffe photo. Note the lack of chevrons and the DLV style cap insignia on one of them. But the "lightning bolt" trade patch is a mystery.

A knowledgeable friend suggested that it might be a first model type badge used for Air Signals or Teletype personell? Or he suggested it could be a replacement" for the DLV's Bordfunkerabzeichen "wings???

Anyone ever seen this one before?
(P.S.- its not the same one in Davis' or Angolias books)

I'm not sure , but I guarantee if that SS patch had been posted by itself it would most certainly be judged here as Fake. Nice observationthough , and good photo, and I am looking forward to the anwer also,although I am NOT optimistic your questions can all be answered . All I can summize is maybe the luft officer had been in the ss or technicly attached to them. Looks rather early to me. The elephant looks like a carnival prize.

haha youre right about that, it would be deemed a fantasy peice! If you look closely tho, the bottom of the lightning bolts have Arrow shaped heads....which might make sense for signals/etc. It also looks as if 2 of the other men wear them too...

Yes I see that also Bill and agree an early signals patch would be the best bet, later changed to one bolt as found throughout the war.
