    Hello Jon.

This man was trained via apprenticeship in commerce which here is expressed in a rather generic form. He could have been in wholesale or retail, in one of the many branches of commerce be that food, clothing or other.
B.T.W.: he lived in my town of birth and subsequent schooling and part of an apprenticeship. Did he serve in the 22.Inf.Dision, by chance?

        Hello Jon.

Was with 30.Inf.Div. which was also a North-German Division . Just received a document, medals and photos group of a former member of that division including an identical document authorizing the bearer to be in the city of Paris.

            hello Jon.
30.Inf.Div. was formed as of Oct.1936 with H.Q. in Luebeck and other garrisons in Flensburh, Rendsburg and Neumuenster. Mobilised on 26.Aug.1939. It was depoyed in Belgium as of May 1940, served on occupation duties in France. After June 1941 it was on the Eastern Front , the northern area. Lastly in the Heeresgruppe Kurland. It was badly mauled and ended the war with only 4 battalions on its strenght.
Sources: Tessin and "German Order of Battle 1944, The regiments, formations and units of the German ground forces," ISBN 1-85367-170-3. The last publication was prepared by British Intelligence for the 1944 invasion of France .It seems quite good in the quality of their information.
