Grenadier Regiment 552 was part of 329 I.D. it fought during 1.944 first attached to Army Group "Centre" in the battle of Nevel and them back to Army Group "Nord" and encircled in Courland where they surrender to the Red Army. Divisional commanders were: from March 1.942 till July 1.944 Generalleutnant Jahannes Mayer (RK on September 13th, 1.941, EL on April 13th, 1944 as 453 and S on August 23rd, 1.944 as 89, the last two as commander of 329 I.D. the RK as commandr of I.R. 501) and from them by Generalmajor Werner Schulze. And a rare and surprise thing regarding you, they were trapped in Cholm!!!!!!!!

By the way, what are you doing researching "my" group?'???!!!!!

Akira, you are very cruel with poor Stijn, by the way, do you have some pictures from Geb.Jäg.Reg. 218? I have the Soldbuch/Wehrpass from a RK träger from this regiment and I wonder if you have some pics from him, appears you have a lot of wonderfull albums and several more photos.

No, I haven't this book, here in Spain is difficult to find good books, only one serious library take it and only those from big editors, others must be looked in Internet. I like to find also other collectors who can help me increasing my personal library, knowledge is power. I have the Wehrpass from Feldwebel Konrad Pfister, poor man he was killed in action days after being awarded his DKiG. I'm really interested in finding photos from "my" DKiG winners as only from two I have photos apart from the ones in Wehrpass or Soldbuch and always is good to have a face to join a name. I tell you more in my PM.

I go to the doctor and found I'm poliadicted as I suffer with CCC, TDB and DKiG related items, I'm further beyond posible cure so I must live the rest of my life with this, but I have a medical certificate that exonarated me for the ilegal acts I make to obtain my drugs, so beware with your collection.............

                      Angel,

                      329. Infanteriedivision at the end of 1944/1945 was part of XXXVIII Korps, 16. Armee, Army Group North. It was fighting in the Courland pocket. I can supply you with maps of the Korps positions throughout the Courland fighting but will have a look for maps with the divisional positions on, if you want.

                      Cheers,
                      Gary.

                        Stijn-

There is a unit history of the 329 Infantry Division...

                        329. Infanterie-Division - Erinnerungen aus dem Kampfgeschehen 1942 - 1945
                        Herbert Franzen, Trad.Verb. der 329. (Hammer-)Div., 1968, 176 pages

I have no idea how easy/difficult it is to get a hold of this work. I obtained this info from the Unit History Section on feldgrau.com.

                        Best,
                        Brian
