Sadly I need to part with this small certificate group to an officer observer who flew with the Stab (Staff Flight) of Kampfgeschwader 53 'Legion Condor' during the Battle of Britain. I would be grateful for your thoughts to reassure any potential buyers.
Things of particular interest (I think) are:
1. The Milch signature on the commission document, which I believe is in ink (not facsimile)
2. The fact the EK1 was awarded one day after the EK2
The Bundesarchiv was able to provide quite a lot of detail on this man. He was sadly killed in 1942 when it seems debris from an exploding bomb hit him during a low-level attack - perhaps from the preceding aircraft. The loss report shows nobody else on board was hurt and the aircraft returned to base with light damage. Helmut was the son of General von Kiesling, who served in the Heer.
I hope you like the documents.
