Only one officer for all these men, what would a unit of this size be called ?

it seems, the most of them wear a 'Blitz/Flash' opn their left upper arm. Maybe a signal unit - Nachrichten-Abteilung

Not from a nachrichtung abteilung, otherwise the waffenfarbe would be a different colour.

not enough men for a stabskompanie of a GJ Btl. and too many for a nachrichten zug from the same. There is a hauptfeldwebel there next to the officer which suggests a kompanie sized unit though.

my guess is a stabskompanie, stabsbatterie or nachrichten zug belonging to a GJ or Geb art. unit

could also be a group of men who just earned the nachrichter qualification in a nachrichten course.
