    Politically incorrect propoganda

    I disccovered this bit of anti France propaganda in an old map case I purchased. It has 4 sides and folds out into a period commercial map of Europe. Case also contained a sodat buch and some additional paper work for a soldier serving in an ordanance depot near France.

      I think this one is pre-war.

      Most likely something to do with the occupation of the Saarland perhaps??

        This is the front page of the following german magazin from 1940:

        IB - Illustrierter Beobachter: Frankreichs Schuld;
        Reihe: Illustrierter Beobachter (Sondernummer); Franz Eher Nachf. / München + Bibliographisches Institut / Leipzig; 1940. 48 S.; Format: 27x37 Propaganda

          It says France's Debt, and is aimed at the front-line African colonial soldiers in the French Army. It appears to be saying 'you're being ripped off, being used to spill your blood for the French generals and politicians while being told (the French banner) that you have Liberte, Fraternitie, Egalitie. France owes you a big debt [which it has no intention of paying back]'

          The annexation of the Saarland wouldn't have targeted front-line French soldiers, would it? I vote for 1940, if not WWI.

          Looks like Gerdan has now found it.... 1940.

              My research indicates it is the cover for a 48 page special edition published after France was defeated in 1940. He must have separated it for the map features.

                Great propaganda piece - Jews, Blacks, and the disgusted French military. I disagree with Randy's analysis - I think it was meant more to scare the French population and army, making it appear that the "Jewish bankers" and "gorilla-like" colonial soldiers could end up being incorporated into "traditional" France.

                  The same magazion issued a special edition with nearly the same title but only against England: "Englands Schuld"

                    Yep you are right 1940s

                    I would have to disagree it was targeted at 'front-line African'
                    soldiers though, as it is German not French and does not show them in a very good light.

                    Propaganda for German consumption.
