Research on Feldw. W. P. Maraun

    Dear friends of Wehrmacht Awards,

I am conducting a new research and what I want to do is a military biography of the fallen feldwebel Werner P. Maraun.

I met his daughter and she gave me everything about him, photos, informations, etc.

Maraun operated in my area from june 1944 to april 1945.

With his military career given by DD, I can see all the Wehrmacht div. he was and the respective periods.

    My questions are:

Do books about every Wehrmacht division exist? Books who tell the story of every div. of Wehrmacht, every regiment, department etc...

With this information, and following his military carreer, I will be able to know where he has been during he whole war. I will be able to rebuild all his military career.

Can you suggest me where I can find these books or these publications?

If not, can you suggest me who or where I have to ask?

DD gave me only the career, in your opinion do they have something else? What I have to do to know if something else exists? If I want to have documents about wehr[IMG][/IMG]macht divisions etc. what I have to ask to DD? For example: Dolmetscherkompanie Wien.

I attach here all the documents I have about Maraun: I can't attach a proposal for the KVK 1st class given by Bundesarchiv because is too big, but if somebody wants to see it just tell me the email and I'llsend it. Can somebody translate me his curriculum? I translated almost all but something is still missing for me.

Somebody tells me that on the web there are many sites who sells photo albums of Wehrmacht divisions etc... can you suggest me this sites?

Sorry for so many questions. I wait for your precious help!

    Thx

    Andrea81

You will have to pay for membership of this forum to post photo´s.
Or use another hosting website and place the photo´s here.

Not for every Division or unit is a book available, but for most Divisions there is (some books are hard to find and only in German).

Can you show or tell in which units he was?

I'm collecting anything related to the towns Castricum and Bakkum during WWII.
Also soldbucher from 116pzdiv. And 1944-1945 eastfront pockets, kampfgruppe and Oder front.

I find the site www.fallschrimjaegerbuch.de to be quite good for unit histories. Most of his books are in german.

About all we can say from this so far is that he was with 7./I.R.178 at the outbreak of the war

              7./I.R. 178 was part of the 76. Infanterie-Division.

There is a book about that Division:
Bittere Pflicht - Kampf Und Untergang Der 76. Berlin-Brandenburgischen Infanterie-Division
              Autor: Jochen Löser

it looks like Karl Wolff didn't agree to Maraun getting a KVKI.

If we take it from 1941, he was sent to France with Kreiskommandantur 779

                      http://www.lexikon-der-wehrmacht.de/...iederungKK.htm

which then changed it's number to 887

Still in France he gets transferred to the 327 ID

                      http://www.lexikon-der-wehrmacht.de/...onen/327ID.htm

Up until that division get disbanded towards the end of 1943.

In the first picture posted yesterday, (the one in the right) the photo together with the baby standing with him, what kind of uniform is he wearing?

What kind of shoulders and collar are?

Tomorrow I will post shoulders of his grade (following his career) and noe of them are ike these, even the collar...

                          wait 4 your news

                          thx

He's wearing the insignia of an unteroffizier and the ribbon for his KVKII with swords

that means the photo dates from after 1 Sept.43
