WWII Kodachrome--Simply the Best!

Just some really technical things about Kodachrome used in these photos.

It would of be 4*5 sheet film of I think 8 ASA. So most likely taken with a good old 'Speed Graphic ' on a tripod.

Judging from the depth of field the static out-door shots where most likely f-11 at 1/4 second or more likely f-4.5 at 1/30 for the shots with people in them.

The flash shots are hard to say, With the old bulbs, basically you set the F-stop open the lens, the bulb would fire-up and then close the lens after the bulb was over.

I leave quality up to the individual, 35mm Kodachrome was poor till the 1950s the Agfa much better, Later the Kodachrome was much better after the k-14 process.

Burke-White had a special eye

as well she was one of the favorite pin ups of the time (another more famous self portrait)



also was most likely the only US female to fly on a combat mission during the war.

She was a darling, and great photog. On the B17 Flying Flit Gun, in addition to the M2 .50cal Browning, is that an M1919 .30cal Browning mounted in the front position?

"tranparency' films used in major movies

Movie theatres projected the half frame 35mm film images onto 40+ foot wide screens, without showing much grain, on the screen, or losing any color. That is pretty damn good !
