    Night Fighter Documents

    Hello,

I was wondering if anyone could give me some insight into Night Fighter Clasp award documents. How rare are these documents? Also, what would be the value of one of these pieces? Clearly value can be varied depending on awards, rank, etc. but I was wondering if maybe someone could give a basic estimation on value? Thanks for your time.

    Regards,

    Chris

    Hi Chris,

It depends what we are talking of here! Just documents? Soldbuch as well? Wehrpaß etc.?
Prices depend on awards, unit, how many victories (if any?) etc?
So without knowing what there is it is difficult to estimate!

Obviously night fighter documents are more rare than bombers, transport etc.

      Hello Chris

In my experience the docs for the Nachtjager clasps are very, very hard to find.

Right now I don't have access to my computer with my pics, so you might want to have a look at the doc for the clasp in gold awarded to RKT Heinrich Wohlers which is pictured in this short article:
      http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/war_...ing_clasps.htm

      ... it's also pictured in Forman's guide, 1st Edition.

I paid just under DM1800, including post / insurance, in 1998 .... big price, but a doc to a well known pilot .... Much more recently I got a lovely doc for the bronze clasp to a Gefreiter (radio-operator / radar man / gunner?) ... signed by Jabs! $US600. I have one other bronze doc - which came in a group for a pilot who died when attempting to land following a mission.

Crazy money? Maybe ... but when one reflects on the significance of these (and other docs) ... And it's hard (?impossible) to find such items in Australia, so collectors here often look to overseas dealers ... and up until recently our exchange rate has been diabolical!

      Regards
      Paul
