Here we have a Kriegsmarine oil painting by Leopold Vogel dated 1935. This piece is being offered to me but the seller wants me to name a price. Problem is, I have no idea where to start on paintings. Anybody have any idea what market value would fetch? It's size is 80 X 58 cm.

Hello Ken,
IMO, speaking as a professional artist, this is a very amateurish picture by someone with no formal training in art. I wouldn't offer much if anything, because I don't think it will have value in the future, and it's just not very good.
A well-done painting by a known artist will bring $1000.00 and up. This painting, maybe $50.00 but only if you really like it.
