    Graphic Image.....

Can anyone give a positive ID on the type of equipment seen in this photo ??? I am especially interested in the make / model of motorcycle in the foreground and what type of equipment the KIA soldier is sitting on / leaning against....

Its a motorcycle (Zundapp?) and sidecar outfit with the guy sat in the chair, notice the burnt out tyreless spare wheel on the back of the sidecar. Very interesting but sad image of the horrors of war. Thanks for sharing.

      Tobysauer:

Thankx for this....good eye as I initially missed the tireless spoked rim / wheel on the back....I have never seen a such an elaborate (and large) sidecar outfit before. If anyone has photos of such a sidecar unit in a "factory fresh" state, it would be appreciated if those photos were posted in this thread.

Looks like a Zundapp KS750. That 'rail' mounted on top of and behind the sidecar passenger may have been for an unusual gun mount for a third passenger... something like this one.

            France 1940 ?

Not german side-car but seem to be French GNOME RHONE 800 AX2 1939

Why isn't the guy's head much more destroyed? It looks almost like a sculpture.

The strap buckle on the dead man doesn't look to be of German origin. The Y-straps are of a rounded design on German straps not a buckle.

The buttons don't look like German uniform either.

As for the mans head, flash fire cn cause damage like this compared to a long burn like a bonfire.

                  Regards,
                  Chris.

I agree - definitely GNOME RHONE... Probably taken during the 1940 campaign.
