            Hi William,

While I cannot comment on the question you initially raised about these pieces, I can respond to the note penciled onto the address area of the post card's reverse: "Early 1936 photo of Hitler". IMO, this photo was taken in late summer of 1932. By the autumn of that year the first of three building and renovation projects was begun which would end with the 'unveiling' of the new Berghof in 1936. But the scene behind Hitler in this photo is of Haus Wachenfeld as Hitler had originally seen and bought it (actually, I believe the purchase was legally made in his sister Angela's name), and the surrounding countryside appears wild and charmingly undeveloped -- and all of this rustic appearance would begin to vanish in the fall of 1932. If this photo were actually taken in "early 1936," as the penciled note states, Hitler would have been standing on the flagstone terrace on the western side of the Berghof; to his left would have been the building known as the Berghof Adjutancy and the hillside over his right shoulder would have been developed in rolling and manicured lawns. The fence he leans upon would have been gone for years, and the whole area would have been covered with the remnants of building equipment being used to create the Berghof and to incorporate Haus Wachenfeld into it. A great and historic photo; many thanks for sharing it -- and I hope you receive some good responses to your original question!

              Br. James,

Most interesting, and thank you for sharing that information - obviously you know exactly what you are talking about.

Can anyone comment on the signature?

                  Dave,

Yeah, the source is good. Is this a signature and not a facsimile though?

hi william.......wish i could tell you more but from what i see from the photo,it looks hand done,if it's a forgery it's a good one,but thats only my opinion........extremely difficult unless examined in hand,if the price is right it would be worth a chance..........dave

                      Hello again,

Has anyone seen anything similar to the Valentine's day card? Can a German-speaking member translate the postcard for me?

IMO,Post card is a purchasable one at the time , anyone could buy to support the party. These were very popular in ww1 , to take actual photos and make them into post cards to mail to friends etc. Signature (original )was only on the original photo these cards were printed from, this is his actual type of signature at the time, but the one on the card is NOT likely done personally on the card, if so youll see pressure in the card where the pen pressed down, and the ink will stand out , as this one does not appear to me from the photo to be that way.. All is original, such as stationary, that is hitlers personal writing paper( i have some also) and the valentines card , is the same idea mass sold, and the proceeds go to the party. I'd say the bunch is worth around a hundred for all , or thereabouts. Nothing really rare, but the postcard photo is as stated early berghoff. That one and the personal writing paper is the best stuff of the bunch. Too bad the heart is ripped, so see if you can negotiate with her, and see if she has anything else hiding about , such as medals etc. Sometimes people have things they wont mention , because they dont want to sell, or be bugged about selling . I have other famous nazis stationary also i picked up along the way .
