Presse-Hoffmann pics-collectible?

I have a bunch of different P/H photos. I am not a pic collector and would like to know if these have any collector value.

These are quite common and are printed press photos, usually slightly less than A4 size. They are not 'real' photographs and therefore there is not such a large collectors market, but some people collect them. Various photo agencies reproduced them.

Max is correct....these type of photos aren't nearly as collectible as the original press photos themselves (normally with the captions still attached to the backs of the photos). They sell typicaly less than half of what the normal press photo would sell for. I collect press photos and avoid these types of photos for my personal collection.

Are you sure? These ones in the images above are typical of the printed press images. The wording underneath the image gives it away.....definitely looks printed to me. If they are real photographs as opposed to printed images, I'd be interested in buying them, but they look printed.

The image quality differs from photo to photo. Most are moderate and acceptable, occasionally with high contrast. The situation is not so much different from usual press photos with a caption slip on the reverse. So price the image...

I don't think we are talking about the same thing. The ones I am referring to are not printed on photopaper. They are press printed on cheaper heavy duty paper about 9 inches by 7 inches. Bob's look remarkably like those. I don't have many in my collection, but here is one. The quality of image reproduction varies, but because they are on paper and not photo card, and also because the image is not so high definition as a photograph, they are not so collectable.

Of course I believe you, but are you telling me that the captions under his photos are not printed, but are stamped? I do admit to finding that hard to believe!! I think Todd is also under the same impression as me. I know the ones you mean, but I just don't think that Bob's are in that category.

Regarding "stamped" I perhaps made a poor word choice. Not a rubber stamp, metal probably. It's some kind of short-run printing process on the glossy surface of the photo, with ink. A close up is attached.

And as I wrote, I can say from Bob's photo that his photos were made identically as mine.

Thanks Akira. Now I know what you mean. The captions are not stamped (rubber or metal) but are actually printed. The "stamping illusion" effect is caused by the print reaction on the type of paper used.
