    Drl Info

    Friends and Collectors,

I am beginning to plan a DRL qualification event for Reenactors and enthusiasts. All the events will match the period qualifications for the award. Also, awards will be issued according to the recipients age. I am currently looking for a blank DRL certificate or a Reproduction certificate to copy for awarding the recipients. I am currently searching for detailed criteria for the event as well. Besides the 15k march, and swim. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Do you have a copy of a DRL Sports book? All the events etc. are listed in there!

Why don't you just send everyone to Germany to qualify for the sports badge (which still exists)? If you are going to re-enact an event like this, you could at least do it at the right venue.

My suggestions for a "period" event:

All "athletes" will be wearing period-style leather or canvass running shoes and cotton and woollen shorts/singlets (jogger's nipple or blisters qualify for a wound badge).

All participants will be on strict "period" diets (i.e. no McDonalds or Coke weeks before or after the event).

No exposure to CNN or Internet news services for a fortnight before or after the event - only censored newspapers are permitted.

Complete ban on cell phones, pagers and other modern fandanglia. No more than one newspaper for every four participants.

Travel to Europe only by steamship, propellor-driven aircraft or (for the diehard re-enactor) via landmass/icepack (subject to weather/icepacks).

So, Kameraden, steel yourselves for the ultimate display of collector commitment!

What will the prize be, a reproduction DRL badge (or DRA for the PC collector/re-enactor)?

      /David

PS For anyone potentially miffed by above remarks - this post contains a certain element of irony.

Ian, I do not. I am actively seeking one if you know of one for sale or use to reproduce. As for davids remarks, Im still on hold calling him on his cell. My cell reception isnt that great here...

Seriously, I would greatly appreciate any assistance in this venture.
