    1944 Todt Organization Prisoner Photo

    Hello,
I picked up a few Photos at the Market on Saturday and this Photo was mixed in with them. It is 7 inches high and 9 inches wide and was taken by a US Photoman. There is a caption attached to the bottom but is so faded and yellowed I can not get a photo of it.

    Hello.

I have seen this photo before.

I remember the WW1 vetran who had lost his arm.

Not commenting on the photo's originality as there would have been many copies.

    Chris.

I wonder if their armbands have been 'souvenired' by GI's, or removed by the OT men themselves to distance themselves from the 'Nazi regime'?

        Hi Chris & Mark,
Here is a Photo on the back of the Photo, with a name like Acme I 'm sure there are lots of copies around.

I think this may be taken on the beaches on D Day

They do not look like "fighting troops" - more bureaucrats from an Org. Todt office.

              Hi Gerdan,
You are probaly right as the first two look like they are wearing ties. It could be the D-Day beaches as I can faintly make out in the description the building of the Atlantic Wall.
