    Who are they?

I have a photo of a unknown Ritterkruez holder but can't post the photo since it is disabled. Can I send the photo to someone to post? I am hoping someone here can identify him. He is a U-boat skipper.

      Help with photos

Thanks! I am hoping someone can help me identify the Ritterkruez holder and also the identity of the boat.

      Thanks for the watermark too!

I lean toward Joachim Schepke, based on the style of combing the hair, the height, and the ears & nose.

Other possibility is Kretschmar, but I don't think so.

            Not Kretschmer.

              Looks like Nicolai Clausen.

Hi Torpedomaat.......Looking at the link you sent me I think you nailed it!!

Since Clausen was previously in the minesweeper corp it would make sense that he is posing with two officers with minesweeper badges (two on the left). The three on the right probably went on to command boats of their own. An educated guess would put this photo at either Clausen's wedding OR taken during the commissioning ceremony of U-182.

                    Comments welcome.

                      U-boat photo

At this point I do not think the photo of the u-boat is tied to Clausen. I do have another photo of the same boat which I have asked Thomas H to post here for me.

I think the photos were taken in Lorient. Any ideas as to the identity of the boat or guess at time period (still has a deck gun) would be welcome. Note the marks under the conning tower. That is a clue but I can't find anything about what they might be.

                      Thank all!

I believe the KC holder is Karl Jäckel, Obersteuermann, Steuermann auf 'U 907' whose award was too late to be recognised.

                            Boats

Anyone have any input on the boat in the two photos?

Notice the stare of the man on the left and second from the right. I wonder what was on their mind? Wasn't there a name for that? 100 yrd stare or something?
