Either Dead or Wounded German Soldiers in Russia

In my opinion, these Deutsche soldaten look like they are dead, or near death.
    What do you think?

The guy on the left seems to have his leg in a cast, the guy squating next to him is smiling.

Dead, probably not, heavily wounded, maybe, but it seems that they are probably lightly wounded.

What about the tactical symbol on the cart? Chaplain or medical?

Chaplain I think, due the cross and the triangler, looks like a top of a church...Just my two cents.

I think they are both only wounded. Nothing seems to indicate they are dead, altough its possible.

IMHO, they're not dead...The soldier on the left stretcher appears to be lean ing his head forward while the other wounded looks like he's patiently awaiting for what's next....hopefully NOT a visit from St. Pete or the Grim Reaper....

I think the right-hand horse is letting go with a ripper

                  Sorry guys, couldn't resist.

Where might I find a book listing tactical signs?

                  Cheers,
                  David.
At Rathau on the Aller, the CO of 5th Royal Tanks advanced on foot to take a cautious look into the town before his tanks moved in. He encountered one of his own officers, a huge Welshman named John Gwilliam who later captained his country's rugby team, 'carrying a small German soldier by the scruff of his neck, not unlike a cat with a mouse.' The Colonel said: 'Why not shoot him?' Gwilliam replied in his mighty Welsh voice: 'Oh no, sir. Much too small.'

Here is another photo of the same size as the first, maybe even taken in the same area. In this photo, you can see the unit emblem, but not the tactical emblem, of the soldier who owned 245 of my photos.
I believe it was for the 205th something.
