    Cap emblem question

    Hi
    Came across this picture with what looks like an edelweiss badge. I believe he is a sailor so perhaps someone could help with the reason for wearing this badge

        There are mainly 4 reasons for wearing the Schiffchen and the Edelweiss:
        1. Crewmember from U-64
        2. Crewmember from U-124
        3. KM participant of the Battle of Narvik 1940
        4. The wear of the Edelweiss in any odd KM-unit as an un-official badge
        Thus its important to underline that not every KM-person depicted with the Edelweiss automatically is a Uboat-guy, but of course when it comes to selling these kind of pictures or even Schiffchen with Edelweiss' on them it surely gives the saleprice a hefty push describing them as Uboat-related and nothing else

          AH is quite right. He could just as easily be non-uboat.
          Collecting German award documents, other paperwork and photos relating to Norway and Finland.
