                Thanks.

Indeed, now with UDF binoculars I have both targeting scopes, and that's very rare. I knw of just few periskopes out there, of which two in fellow collectors posession and two in museums, as I am informed.
Even if there are more, those are one of the finest items one can ever wish to find about U-boats.

I would give my eye teeth for your collection. Just a killer.

Thanks for the nice words my friends!
I really appreciate it, and not wanting to lower anyone's importance, I must say that Jacques words mean especially much to me, as his presentation of his room was the trigger for me to start arranging everything in a nice order to be presented.

As we're planning to build a house soon, I will get one nice, big room for the collection. That will be special project which I'll share with all of you, of course.

                        Super

Congrats and more, that's quite a coup picking up such obscure memorabilia.
Superb!! Photos and the periscope harkens me to wonder what eyes have peered through it.

I thought about that many times...
About the commander, about the sailors on the targeted ships also.

So much history in so small piece of equipment.

As I made my homework and make the choice of possible U-boats to just three, one of which could possibly be U-552, famous red Devil of Erich Topp, that fires my imagination even more.

I came to a dead end with the insvestigation and studying, as I found two different source telling me apposite details, one that Top had the periscope from Red Devil which was taken from the Uboof by his friend at thee end of the war and given to him as a present, and the other source which is telling me that he knew Topp quite well and that he never saw and Topp never mentioned that periscope.

The only sword which could cut that know now is connecting directly with Topp's son and asking him, but I don't know where to look for the info or contact details.
