I have this receipt in my collection for the funds found on Oberstleutnant Werner Schrader's corpse when he committed suicide at Zossen on July 28, 1944. Can anyone read the Major's name? The Hauptmann is Macholz. The doc is from a Naschlass of about 40 items including his original death certificate.
Schrader was instrumental in the Widerstand from 1935 until his death. He was one of the key links between the Abwehr and the OKH in Oster's 1938 abortive attempt and he suppressed the Geheimefeldpolizei investigation when Hagen and Kuhn were spotted burying documents and explosives at Mauerwald in 1943. In the SD reports on July 20 he is shown as one of the providers of explosive to Stauffenberg in preparation for July 20 and he was the custodian of the conspiracy's archive. When he committed suicide at Zossen to avoid arrest and torture, the Gestapo were led to his safe where they found complete documentation of the conspiracy back to 1938. This led to the arrest and execution of many more individuals, including Canaris' Abwehr group.

Thanks
Colin
