This reminds me of a colleague I had who, as a 17-year-old in the Kurland pocket, was wounded in the lower back near his spinal column and when he was sufficiently recovered to walk around managed to get a dozen or so eggs which he ate raw all at one sitting. Yes, he was awarded the cufftitle which he said he threw away just before going into captivity. Half a year as a soldier and 5 years captivity around Riga and Reval.
