My first Felderhalle color slide :-)

I just got a beautiful box of color slides from a Munich family 1938 to 1941 yesterday in the post.
I was always looking for a nice color slide from FELDHERRNHALLE in Munich and I think I found it.......
    Enjoy.

              Ian,

Its the Propylaea building in Munich.
Some information about the building found on the internet :

The Propylaea (German:Propyläen) is a gate in Munich at the west side of Koenigsplatz.

              History

The building constructed in Doric order was completed by Leo von Klenze in 1862 and evokes the monumental entrance of the Propylaea for the Athenian Acropolis. The gate was created as a memorial for the accession to the throne of Otto of Greece, a son of the principal King Ludwig I of Bavaria. The reliefs and sculptures celebrating the Bavarian prince and the Greek War of Independence were created by Ludwig Michael Schwanthaler.

Great slides, Ian -- thanks so much for sharing them with us! If there are many more like the two you've shown, you should consider publishing them in a photo book. Color photos of TR locations are always exciting to see -- I'd buy a copy if you publish it!

Lucky You Ian, nice slide of the FELDHERRNHALLE! I think the second slide you showed transposed, the Swastika rotation is backwards and the stone figures on the building are reversed.
if the slide is marked front then the film was put in backwards?

Thanks guys for the kind words and help!
In the wood box I found about 20 nice shots of a old castle and Munich.
The rest is family, villages and mountains.
I think this family was very proud of their little village and took only a few Color slides in Munich on a day trip to the big smoke.
Anyway I'm delighted I rescued them. It is incredible how many of these old slides are getting dropped into the waste bin every day.
A old women told me a month ago. I am 6 months to late. Her husband was a Wehrmacht officer and photographed his time in Stalingrad in Color !!
That collection went to the incinerator 6 months ago.
All I can say to that is ahhhhhhhh! :-(

About the book idea. I think I need some more material but the Munich in Color book would be a really nice idea!

Thanks again guys and best wishes from Ireland !
                            Ian :-)

                              Hello Ian.

I can't add to what the others have said apart from a thanks for showing.

This can be added to the other great photos of Munich you have.

(BTW, please don't tell anecdotes like the Stalingrad photos. Far too depressing!)

                              Regards,
                              Chris.
