      Edelweiss

The Gebrigsjager was an elite mountain infantry force who used the Edelweiss as part of a signifying decoration. They fought in all fronts. I think mostly the caucuses.

This thread is about the special / unusual type of "Edelweiss" on that foto - not the use of that insignia in general...

          Grüß Di' rschuhmann,

Nice portrait photograph! More than likely these are two brothers. As for the embroidered Edelweiß, I have seen a few examples of this before...perhaps his mother, sister, or girlfriend applied it to the cap. Unfortunately, it is not a very detailed Edelweiß...I've see others that include the stem and leaves like the issued metal cap badge.

          Patrick (USA version)

Thank you for your answers, so I can assume that there is a certain unit?
