ostmedal document date

Hello all
I am fairly new to award document collecting I have tried to find the answer to this on the net without success.

I would like to know what the earlyist dated ostmedal award document would be Aug/42 seems the most common date.

Well, they certainly wouldn't be dated any earlier than May, as that is when the award was instituted. Most of the ostmedaille docs I have are dated in September and October. I used to have one dated July 20, 1942 and that is probably the earliest example I can think of.

The thing about ostmedaille docs is that the award is generally when the unit was approved or authorized for the award. The dates are a little wackier than that of other types of award citations
