          Hello Bryan
In addition to Ian's post. The 278 ID was fighting on the Italian front with the 10th Armee when this individual was wounded.

For Feldpost numbers, the 'bible' is the 3 volume series by Norbert Kannapin "Die Deutsche feldpostübersicht 1939-45". A bit pricey but invaluable.
A pretty good 2 volume work on German Documents published by R.J.Bender and written by Adrian Forman is "Forman's guide to Third Reich German documents...and their values"
Tessin's huge work "Verbande und Truppen der deutschen wehrmacht und waffen-SS 1939-45" is also well worth it although it too isn't exactly cheap.

As for what you should focus on, well thats completely up to you. Personally i concentrate on documents relating to Northern Norway/Finland and the gebirgstruppe.

          regards

              Bryan-

Definately consider purchasing "German Military Award Documents 1939-1945" by Emilie Caldwell Stewart. I think it's a better reference than the Forman books. It includdes all Wehrmacht awards in one volume (you have to buy two Forman books to get all these awards). This will save you money that you can then sink into your collection. Also she includes a price list that gives you a better idea of current values. It is a little dated, from 1998, but I think it's still a lot more reasonable than the prices Forman has published - his prices are downright inaccuarate. You can email her at kzfan@aol.com. I'm not, in any way, connected to Ms. Stewart. I just think you'll get a better reference for less money by contacting her.

              Best,
              Brian
