Regarding the Knight's Cross document group currently offered on the Estand, I have a question on the Knight's Cross document itself.
It is signed by Keitel, who was at that time Generalfeldmarschall and Chef des Oberkommandos der Wehrmacht. Yet, on the document, "Generalfeldmarschall" is crossed out, and underneath is typed "General der Infantrie." Also crossed out is "Oberbefehlshaber des Heeres" (Which, was not Keitel's position) and in its stead is stamped "Oberkommando des Heeres."
Keitel's name on the document seems inconsistant with the changes on the document. Why would this be?
