    Document on estand

Did anyone notice the burned documents lot on estand? One of them is from 'Erwin von Rommel' and is full of grammatical errors.

I have a pile of ashes that I swear was a letter from Hitler to Roosevelt, carried on the last voyage of the Hindenburg. Hitler changed his mind and ordered the Hindenburg destroyed so that the letter wouldn't be delivered. FBI laboratory analysis (the file was lost in the 60's) proved that the ash is from Hitler's personal stationary. I wouldn't tell you this if it wasn't true.

I see them now for the first time and can only say that they do look weird.

You are right about the spelling and the grammatical errors.

The burned parts do look a bit overdone to me.

In my opinion these documents are obvious forgeries. Apart from the stupid mistakes such as "VON Rommel," even the fire damage appears manufactured by someone using a cigarette lighter and controlling the extent of the damage. Here is an example of a genuine document damaged by fire. Note the scorching extends far beyond the extent of the missing section.

Max, this cannot be a safe point to distinguish between an original burned document from another. It's incredibly easy to make the scorching (I also did it around my poems when I was a child!).

                My books:

                - THE WEHRPAß & SOLDBUCH OF THE WH
                - THE SS TK RING
                - THE ITALIAN-GERMAN MEDAL
                - THE ANTI PARTISAN BADGE
                - THE AWARDS OF THE LW

                and more!

                        Thanks Max for posting that.
The seller had a couple of them up, maybe the others are still there.
I was going to post it here myself because they all looked like that, like a ten year old manufactured them.
Thanks again Max, for doing what I should have done when I saw it last week.
I hope the person gets their money back.
                        Best,
                        John

p.s., sorry, somehow I missed the complete thread when I wrote the above paragraph. So I should thank VtwinVince for the original post. Thanks!
Also yep, those were all of the docs I saw last week. Terrible forgeries.!

I think the asking price was 200 euros, i say sold but it was marked hold this morning...whether or not that means it actually is being sold or if the seller just marked it as such i can't say.

Are you serious? Of course it's not black or white (excuse the pun.) I'm not trying to suggest the fake documents were not burned as they obviously were. However, when trying to control burning, the flame is usually extinguished prior to prolonged scorching occuring. The resultant scorching does not extend so far into the paper as happens when the paper is exposed to intense heat for longer, i.e. there is more pronounced scorching in the latter. The forger in this case wanted to extinguish the flame before it affected too much of the content, eg. the word 'Geheim.' Your poems would have been scorched, but not to the extent of them having gone through the process naturally.
The spelling in the fakes is atrocious.....Oberbefehlshaber repeatedly misspelled in different documents.
                            Max.

Agreed, I'm German and no such important documents, describing the 'Kriegslage', would be so full of ridiculous mistakes.
