This card shows the named person was a member of the NSDAP and the revenue stamps show that he paid the requisite dues for the month shown. The Gautag revenue stamp indicates his contribution to the festivities.

I agree, of course, with ramon. As I understand it, this was the personal membership card issued to new NSDAP members which they carried with them at all times; it enabled them to pay their Party dues by providing a place for them to affix their dues stamps on the card's reverse. This was an interim measure; the formal 48-page hardbound red leatherette NSDAP Membership Book bearing the member's photo and additional ID information was eventually sent to the member, and he/she would then carry these cards with the dues stamps inserted into the proper pages of the book, thus proving that he/she had regularly paid their dues for those months/years. Since the background check and normal paperwork took time to process before an official Membership Book would be issued -- often two years or longer, following admission -- these cards provided for the intended purpose.

I would guess that a lot of these were discretely burned in 1945.

Thanks to all for the help. Was wondering if they were affiliated with the NSDAP red party book. Now off to get an idea what a fair price is for them. Thanks to all Mike
