I wondered what kind of unit he served in ? Looks Transitional/ Weimar period. Whats the metal disk with Weimar eagle meaning ? I see a number below and some words above the eagle but cannot make anything out.

I have no clue, why do you think so ? I just can say that the pic was found in Germnay.
I was thinking towards police of some kind, but its just a guess...
