    insignia

As unclear as it is the chance it is simply a specialist badge with NCO cord around the edge is probably the case. It appears circular and not oblong like a sniper insignia to me.

looks oblong to me even with the slight bend, I think a wiz with a photo clean up program needs to tackle this as it stands a decent chance IMO!
having His rifle in the photo with him would be somthing a Sniper would do when being photographed with his new sniper badge!

An otherwise undecorated oberfeldwebel with only it seems the oct.38 medal ribbon? That alone tells its own story.

The rifle isnt even a 98K, it looks like an old WWI vintage gew.98.

The trade patch could be that of a funkmeister or one of the cogwheel trades.

Well, Mr world-sheriff, so far nobody here (BTW, where is YOUR help to solve the riddle???) was able to say what that badge is, only the usual "could be", "looks like", "has a chance to be"... tahts why I added a "?" to the auction. Do you know the meaning of this smybol???

Let us say that all previous posters gave you hints what it could be and what it couldn't.. Thought your attack hasn't any credibility about "to solve the riddle", as seeing in the EK thread you sold a Cross that was expertised fake by each and everyone member and you still sold it without even mentioning that it was fake and another collector paid many money for it while you knew it was fake.. You want(ed) the cash..

Again, NOBODY could identify it (yet), so I posted it for sale, with LARGE fotos, and a "?". So each buyer could decide for himself.

About the cross, I WOULD had removed it, IF not any other members like you would have bombed me with PMs, saying what I have to do! NOBODY tells me what I have to do!

Ever heard of the the bible-speak "those who are without sins, throw the 1st rock"??? Ohhhh, wait, I see your halo...

Whatever.. I even think that what you did is against the law.. Selling fake material, with knowledge, for original or not describing it to the buyer (even if it is auction)(as you asked for expertise) which is misleading selling..

You're right, that badly blurred it can't be 100% positively identified..but we can and did tell you what it isn't and why.

The ? symbol allows people to get away with far too much, it's like setting a trap for the inexperienced or gullible collector. Had you been honest you would have left out any mention of snipers and leave it up to any interested buyers to make up their minds.

What's more, you didn't even have the courtesy to answer in this thread, why was that?
