U.S. Issued Certificate of Discharge Question

A friend told me that these are hard to come by because they had to be carried at all times & most just ended up falling apart. Any information is greatly appreciated!

Your friend is wrong, they're very common exactly because they had to be kept as proof of discharge and therefore were often tucked away somewhere for safe keeping.

I don't know if they were printed by the allies or under the direction of the allies by the Germans but you will find them signed and stamped by control officers from the US, Britain and France
