Soldbuch knight cross + documents 290.i.d. !

Hi Guys. Today I am happy to share here one of my favourite Soldbuch. Once more (like Grouping Major H.K. last week), this Soldbuch was not purchased on any Website, but was a Present from the Veteran itself in 1997. I had intense Discussions with this great, unpretentious, lovely 83 Years old men. He had a fantastic memory and I was almost living the situation where he was involved... He served and led 11./Inf.Rgt.501 (290.I.D.). On Aug.13th 1942, with his company reduced to 35 Men, he successfully counter-attacks in the Vicinity of Now-Derewjna, thus avoiding a difficult Situation for his Regiment. 5 Days laters, after violent arillery fire, his position his taken by Russian aussault unit. With 24 Men, F.S. re-take the lost position, fighting in close-combat. 84 russians are killed, 9 are taken prisoners.
Thinking that the little booklet therafter was worn in this Tunic at that time means a lot for me, and I thank, for all crazy Documents Collectors opf this Site !! A WILL ADD MORE PICS A A FEW MINUTES...

The "Ausweikarte" thereafter was included in the Solduch... probably a proof he was serving in german Forces for the time he was in Italy... Note he only wears his KC.... and his WBB.... as I told you before... a real unpretentious Fighter !!

The only Award Document I have : German Cross with congratulating Letter written from Gen.Lt. Theodor Freiherr von Wrede. Better than nothing. On the left side, some of my numerous correspondance with F.S.

                ..

Very nice grouping with a nice back stroy as well!!!

Having the chance to speak with the very recipient of these awards is indeed a rare opportunity which is becoming more scarce by the day.

                Thanks for showing.
