    SS photoalbum on e-stand.

I'd be interested in other people's comments on this album. Several of the pages appear to indicate that the photos are not in their original positions. Drawn corner outlines and adhesive marks seem to idicate that a number of the photos are not the original images that were on the album pages, but have been added subsequently. This could mean that the album was put together after many original photos had been removed. What do others think please?
The original asking price was $2199 and it is now reduced to $1249. A vast reduction.
I would like to make it clear that I think the photos on the face of it are superb and that I do not think the seller is in any way being dishonest, but the marks on the pages are ringing alarm bells over the originality. Maybe the seller can dissaude the doubts? I'm sure there is a good explanation and my concerns are unfounded.
    Regards,
    Max.

Impossible to say when the photos were put in there or by whom.

As long as the photos and postcards are genuine then any potential buyer should base his decision on that i think. Not whether the album and photos belong together.
Collecting German award documents, other paperwork and photos relating to Norway and Finland.

Hmmm.....can't say I entirely agree with that. Surely part of establishing whether or not all the photos belong together (i.e. are from one particular source) is knowing that they are in the original album. If one accepts that the album may not be the orignal host for the photos and that they may have been cobbled together subsequently, who is to say they all belong together, especially when different people and places appear in them? If one accepts what Simon is saying, what is to stop someone adding a load of genuine, but unrelated photos to an existing group and then sticking them all in an album? Again, I'm not saying they don't belong together in this case, but the ambiguities do raise questions.

        Hello.

I looked through the album and there are clear marks where some photos have previously been outlined.

I assumed some of the photos may at one point become detached and then re-attached in different places.

If my opinion is relevant, I would certainly want to know if the photos were assembled or originated from source.
I would compare it to buying a tunic that had reapplied original insignia or if it was sold as untouched.

As Max said, very nice photos at what has come down to a great price.

        Regards,
        Chris.

Thanks Chris. Your opinion is valued and your analogy illustrates my point perfectly.
