While conducting photo research for a future publishing project i came across this interesting photo of two camo clad GIs in Normandy France showing off a recently captured officers tunic with a "Das Reich" cufftitle. One wonders if this tunic was eventually mailed back home?

Great photo.
Maybe we've seen the same tunic on the forum at some point. Maybe it's still in a loft waiting to be found ...
(BTW, I've read that the cammouflage uniforms the G.I.'s are wearing was soon stopped being worn as troops thought they were wearing the W-SS camo'. Could be an old wives tale but the lack of cammouflage being worn in the ETO by US troops would substantiate this).

It is hard to be sure, but I think the division insignia on the helmets (visible under the nets; particularly with the guy on the left) looks like the 30th Infantry Division ("Old Hickory"). Also, if you look closely between the soldiers it looks like you can see a captured MP-40 SMG (it is hanging by its sling on one of the soldiers and you can see the top rear of the receiver & end cap in the photo).
Nice photo.
