Waffen SS, but I cant tell the collar tab. Is it a deaths head or what I cant tell?

      Thanks Frank,

This is an original photo I acquired a few weeks ago.

The collar tab is hard to make out, but would appear to be a TK.

        TK in 1940?

This photo is familiar...it is not in the SS TK book "Damals"!?!?
I have a copy somewhere but not able to get to it tonight!

          Ian,

I bought this photo as an original!

If it is in that book I would be VERY interested

          Please let me know.

          Regards,

          Kevin

Looks early war ca. 39-41 TK. Could you please provide a scan of the back of the photo? If not, could you please describe it?

            Regards

It may be original, just not unique as is very common with many pk and unit photographers stuff. If it was used in a book it could also be that you now have the one original print. Need to look at the paper to tell if it's a modern copy really.

The position of their gasmasks, would that indicate they were riding on transport of some sort at the time the shot was taken?

                The photo measures 9cm x 6cm.

It certainly has the look of an original.

The photo paper itself is quite thick and has the following stamped on, in faded blue/purple ink:

                Bielefeld

                Horst-Wessel Str 97
