Hi Simon
That's a fair comment , but I think because I am on the other side of the fence , i.e. a dealer / trader I prefer to have my stock / collection Authenticated by a known Expert !
Of course this is always open to debate ? Here is an example :
Put yourself in my position , somebody purchases an item from me and asks me how is it Authenticated , do I tell them that I have had it Authenticated by who I believe to be an Expert in this field ( bearing in mind I am a professional dealer ) and give them a C.O.A informing them that it is 100% genuine or do I tell them that I think it is genuine because I have displayed it on a forum site and some of the members also think it is genuine ? What do you think ? Now I am not suggesting that some of the members on that site do not no what they are talking about , quite the opposite they may well know more than me on this subject but I know how I would feel about spending my hard earned cash it would be the C.O.A route all the time whether that be proven worthless eventually or not at least I would have some kind of reassurance and something to fall back on. I think it is fair to say that we see things differently so may I suggest that we agree to disagree. And as I have already said I have no problem anybody discussing the validity and authenticity of signatures as long as it is done in a decent and gentlemanly way and doesn't descend into an attack on any person or dealer.
Kindest Regards
