Rare photo of the Dora Railway Siege Gun?

I recently found a G.I. foot locker in a garbage heap. Inside the foot locker among pieces of uniform, a US shell casing, a helmet that someone destroyed with white paint and stickers, and other documents and photos, was this picture.

I posted this pic on another forum, and some of the members there seem to think it may be a rare photo of the Dora. What do you fine gentlemen think?

    Thanks for taking a look!

That's what it looks like to me, although I think the soldiers are more important that the Dora barrel. Nice photo. Thanks for sharing!

        I agree!

The contents of the foot locker belonged to a Lt. Gifford. Here is some of what was found inside.

        Orders from Ft. Knox

There are 5 of these shirts in various conditions. This one is a little stained, but is probably in the best shape:

This coat liner is in amazing condition

Looks like someone destroyed Lt. Gifford's helmet

Here is our man Lt. Gifford at the 400 Club in Washington, D.C.

The caption on the back of this photo reads: "La Marr, Gifford, Pernoja in Germany April 1945"

The caption on the back of this photo reads: "Alps east of Munich, Germany. Spring, 1945"

        These photos have no captions:

Looks like they're cleaning the tank barrel and perhaps repairing tracks.

        Gifford and some other officers

All of these Life Magazines have Gifford's name written on the "L" in the title

        The foot locker itself:

Nice find. Sad that it was in a garbage heap....

In the late 40s and early 50s my dad was stationed at the seventh army medical headquarters at Stuttgardt, and he has told that in his various travels he came across a German rail gun (he called it "big Bertha") at a desolate siding in the forest, and actually knelt in the barrel.

Perhaps! Weren't they transported in pieces and then assembled on-site? Perhaps the other pieces of this gun are on the same train as the barrel. It certainly looks extremely long.

This one would certainly fit the bill!
