I think the guy in the back must be on stilts, as the body proportions are all wrong

Funny photo. His torso doesn't appear that large but his hand on the other guys shoulder looks huge.

My first thought was stilts, but could the guy have Marfan's Syndrome?

It was a common theme in the Heer to have a photo of the tallest and shortest members of a particular unit taken together, this case seems to be extreme but may well be legitimate.

Wouldn't he have a special made uniform for his size, ignoring his inefficiency as a soldier for being the huge guy he is.

It looks like a local guy with Acromegaly was hoisted in a soldier's uniform for this photo with one of the smallest soldiers in the near vicinity.
