DOES ANYONE HAVE A PIC OF or INFO ON DKiG Winner Oberleutnant Bermond???

    Hi Guys,

picked up this preliminary DKiG award document made out to: Oberleutnant der Reserve Georg Bermond, Bataillionsführer der Grenadier regiments Gruppe 692 (established on 2.11.1943 from the reminants of Grenadierregiment 692). The original GR 692 was part of the 339rd ID.

Does anyone have a picture of Bermond, any more detailed info on him, or any information on why he received the DKiG or what this unit (Grenadier regiments Gruppe 692) was up to in 1944?

Any help, as allways, much appreciated.

    Cheers, Willem

        Hello Willem,

Not much help I'm afraid, but I did locate a bit of additional information:

Georg Bermond was born on October 10, 1912 in Wersau-Hesse.

He was awarded the EK2 on January 14, 1942.

He was awarded the EK1 on March 12, 1943.

He was awarded the German Cross in gold on September 17, 1944.

He was awarded the Close Combat Clasp in gold on February 9, 1945 as Hauptmann d.R. in Jäger Regiment 54.

        Best regards,
        Tom

PS: I do like the document.

            Just found this interesting tidbit:

            http://www.axishistory.com/index.php?id=979

Apparently he was the only recipient of the Close Combat Clasp in gold in the 100. Jäger Division.

            Best regards,
            Tom
