Leaflet Hitler’s on assassination attempt July 21, 1944

Leaflet on Hitler’s assassination attempt July 20, 1944

Question, who put out or printed this leaflet on Hitler’s attempted assassination? I tried to translate it, but I can not tell if it’s Pro-Hitler or Anti-Hitler. One side seems pro and the other seems anti. It was put out the day after the assassination attempt of July 20, 1944.

I found it in a group of letters sent home by an American GI (Major Floyd I. Martin 0-297984, HQ 28th Cav Rcn Sq.)

This is how Google translated it:

    Despite unsuccessful
    Assassination attempt on Hitler:

    GENERALE
    PROCLAIM
    GOVERNMENT PEACE!

Berlin, 21 July: In a radio address by 1 clock in the morning was to Hitler, that yesterday's proclamation of the peace movement by leading German generals came from.

Goering ordered the air force to suppress the movement and declared that it is, "deposed German generals' concerns. (Previously sold by Hitler: Field Marshal von Leeb, List, von Rundstedt, von Bock, von Brauchitsch, General von Falkenhausen and Haider). Goering and Doenitz pages of "Hitler's speech was immediately explained to the old imperial government followers. No such explanation was the OKH.

The government gave peace Wehrmacht commanders in and outside of Germany announced its proclamation and orders. Flight leaves are spread in Germany, which explained that it was irresponsible to the lost war to continue even longer and that the hour has come for action.

Himmler was appointed to replace General Fromm for "Commander of the homeland armies." General Guderian was appointed General Staff of the Army.

    ZG 34

    IT IS AS FOLLOWS:

    1. That the German Generalist knows best how the utilitarian position is.

    2. That the German Generalist has come to the realization that Germany lost the war.

    3. That the German Generalist has, therefore, requires that you close your peace.

    4. That the German Generalist, was not satisfied as to their desire to act, even had.

    5. The fact that in Germany there is now a peace government, against Goering "warned" has.

    6. The fact that this peace to the most experienced and best-informed German Government generals belong.

    WHAT'S FOR YOU IS:

You know now what the Generalist-known that for weeks Germany has lost the war. The government may peace be depressed or not, this fact arouses nobody.

Every German government must capitulate to make peace. The conditions are laid down for you and your comrades by longstanding military law and the Geneva Convention. The Generalist has acted. Whatever you do yourself, consider what you have now learned.

It looks like an airdrop allied propaganda leaflet. I believe it could be one of these :

I take it that it must be an allied dropped piece of propaganda then.

It's amazing then how fast they must have reacted to the situation. First the news of the assasination attempt has to get to allied headquarters. Next they had to come up with a plan to exploit that news. Then you had to get the leaflets written out and printed up. Finally you had to get them off to the flight line and mixed in with a mission to have them dropped. If I'm reading this leaflet right, they had them out and dropped the next day!!!

In todays world it would never happen. We would have to first have some DNA evidence that the attempt was on Hitler himself, and he would have had to been holding a weapon in his hands at the time of the attempt. We would then have to have a committee look over the plan for political correctness. Then congress would have to vote on the idea after they came off of a long break. Finally all 4 services whould have to work together to get them spread out to the people in a fair and equal mannor. The paper and ink would have to be environmentally friendly and bio-degradable as well.

I love how things use to be, I bet some Lt. or Capt. in the CIC Corps just worked these up over night and got it done.

Black ops at their best. You will notice from the content that its a mix of fact and fiction. They include some officers who were involved and some who were not....bad intel or an attempt to get some effective soldiers shot?

The leaflet was produced by the Psychological Warfare Division of SHAEF and dropped very quickly following the assassination attempt.

The text was based on a news article in the 'grey' air-dropped newspaper Nachrichten für die Truppe, therefore the known facts could have been deliberately massaged a little.

More details about it with a its official English translation here:
