    Negatives: AH and Nürnberg

    Gents,

a fellow collector is interested in some negatives that I almost forgot about.
It´s privately shot pictures, one showing AH, Göring and possibly Hess at a
parade in München (note the hand on the left, tststs).
The two others are of Nürneberg.
    All three are 6x9cm negatives.
Neither my friend nor I can rate these properly.
What is a fair price for the three?

    Thanks in advance,
    taube.

      Dear taube,

Many thanks for sharing your three negatives; all very nicely capturing moments of history! While I have no information as to what this set might be worth on the market, I can say that the two pix from the Nuremberg Rally Grounds appear to be from either the 1934 or '35 Reichsparteitag and the street scene was snapped during the annual parade of the Putsch veterans -- the Altekampfer -- in downtown Munich on November 9, year unknown. In this photo the pylon at the right displays one of the names of the 'Putsch Martyrs,' but I cannot tell whether Hitler's or any other known face is visible...

The Nuremberg negative in #1 is of the Zeppelinwiese Tribune topped with the gigantic wooden eagle and swastika designed by Albert Speer; this was replaced by a more classic stonework tribune in 1936. The #2 negative is a panoramic view of the Luitpoldhain grounds with the Luitpoldhalle to the left and the tribune toward the right. This photo was apparently taken by someone who arrived early at the event taking place at the Leopold Arena that day.

        Thanks very much!
The pylon in the munich pic reads "Zum Appell", I think the exact spot of the photo can be located (it´s my hometown).

Photos or negatives are not my field at all.
        Is 10€ a piece okay?

          Dear taube,

I would think that 10€ each would be a tempting sale-price. We also understand that negatives are not necessarily "original" pieces, since negatives can be copied from other negatives or even made from positive photos. But the subject matter is certainly of interest to a number of collectors.

The pylons along the route of the "Martyrs March" held each November 9th, covering the half-hour walk from the Bürgerbräukeller to the Feldherrnhalle and on to the "Eternal Watch" at the Temples of Honor on the Königsplatz, each displayed the name of one of the sixteen "martyrs" together with "Zum Appell." This tied the pylons to the bronze sarcophaguses on view within the Temples of Honor -- each sarcophagus bearing on its cover in raised relief: "Der Letzte Appell," an eagle with down-swept wings atop a wreathed swastika, and the individual "martyr's" name. The emotional, visual sense conveyed was that each of the "martyrs" was "calling out" to the German people to stand with the Führer in support of the Party and National Socialism (Zum Appell -- He Calls), and at the tomb each sarcophagus proclaimed as it echoed "The Final Appeal" or "Call" (Der Letzte Appell). All, of course, quite solemn and respectful, with cadence beat all along the march route while each "martyr's" name was called out over a microphone as the Blood Banner passed, with the onlookers responding "Here!"

          Best of luck,

          Br. James

Thanks again for your profound explanation.

The negatives are from a larger lot of originals that I found 10 years back.
These are the only "interesting" ones, all others are family and private stuff.

My friend will be the right person to appreciate them.

Again, thanks very much, Br. James.

            Best regards from München,
            taube.
